below, beneath, under, underneath
这四个词都可表示“在…的下边”。under与over相对,物体之间可以互相接触,也可以有一定空间; below与above相对,物体之间不一定存在垂直的位置关系,而且互不接触; beneath的用法和under相仿,二者可互换,但under使用的频率较高; underneath表示空间位置关系时,常可用under, beneath, below替换。

below指位置低于某物或在某物下方，但不一定在正下方，所指范围较宽。
