bring about, bring to pass

bring about是“带来”(指客观上带来的后果,相当于lead to), bring to pass是“使发生”(通过主观努力促使事物发生变化,相当于make to happen)。例如:

After strenuous talks, a cease-fire agreement was brought to pass, and in return it brought about 10 years of peaceful co-existence between the two countries.在紧张的谈判以后达成了一项停火协定,这给两国带来了10年和平共处的局面。

bring forth, bring forward

这两个短语都是动副型短语,作“提出”解时可互换,作“产生,引起”解时只能用bring forth,作“提前,促进”解时只能用bring forward。

bring sb to one's home, bring oneself home, bring home to sb

这三个短语形相近而义不同:bring oneself home的意思是“恢复自己原来的状况”; bring home to sb 的意思是“使某人清醒地认识到”; 而bring sb to one's home则是“把某人带回自己家”。
