阿根廷的英语名称Argentina由argent（银）演变而成，意思就是“白银之国”。1516年，当西班牙殖民者登上南美大陆时，在一条大河附近看见当地土著穿戴很多的银饰，认为这里盛产白银，便用西班牙语称这条河称为“拉普拉塔河”，意思是“白银之河”，将此地称为“拉普拉塔国”，意思是“白银之国”。这条河就是阿根廷的母亲河拉普拉塔河，而“拉普拉塔国”进入英语后变成了“Argentina”，音译就是“阿根廷”。=Argentina：[，ɑ：dʒən'ti：nə]n.阿根廷marg=mark+-ent形容词词尾
