词源记忆法
尼古丁（nicotine）是烟草中的一种重要成分，得名于将烟草传入法国的外交官让·尼科特（Jean Nicot de Villemain，1530-1600年）。尼科特出生于法国南部，1559年被法国政府作为外交官派到葡萄牙首都里斯本。当时葡萄牙是航海大国，从美洲大陆带回了许多新鲜事物，其中就包括烟草。当尼科特从葡萄牙返回法国时，他带回了一些在葡萄牙购买的烟草种子，并将鼻烟介绍至法国宫廷，还向人们宣扬烟草具有药用价值。法国上流人士很快就迷上了吸烟，包括法国王后的母亲和一些知名神父。尼科特成了名人，人们用他的名字，将烟草这种植物命名为Nicotiana。当科学家从烟草中分离出烟草碱这种独特成分后，也用尼科特的名字将其命名为nicotine（尼古丁）。
