article, text
这两个词都可指“文章”。它们的区别在于:text指一本书或杂志中的主要文字部分,而不是导言、图画或索引; article则指报纸或杂志中的一篇文章。例如:
The title of the text is “ Once a thief, always a thief? ”这篇课文的题目是《一次做贼,永远是贼吗?》
This is the heading of the article in today's newspaper.这就是今天报上那篇文章的标题。
composition，article，essay，paper，prose，thesis，theme，dissertation
这些名词都含“文章”或“论文”之意。
composition多指学校里老师给学生的作文练习。
article多指在报刊、杂志上发表的非文艺性的文章，包括新闻报导、学术论文等。
essay指任何一种非小说性的，篇幅不长、结构简练的文章，如论说文、报道、评论、讽刺性杂文等。
paper正式用词，多指在学术刊物上发表或在学术会议上宣读的专题论文，也指高等学校的学期论文，或学校里的作文练习。
prose专指散文。
thesis既可指毕业论文、学位论文，又可指一般的为阐述学术观点而写的论文。
theme一般指大学或高中生作为作业所写的篇幅有限、较完整论述某个观点的文章。也可指作品或谈话的主要论题。
dissertation书面语用词，指独立研究后所写的较为详细的专题文章；也可指学位论文。

词根词缀法
如同art,arm和arthritis,article来源于印欧语词根ar-(组装，连接，配合)，其在拉丁语中的派生词有名词artus(关节)，articulus(小关节，artus的昵称)，动词articulare(分成关节→清晰地说，是英语articulate的词源)，在希腊语中的派生词有arthron(英语arthritis的词源)。拉丁语articulus(小关节)含有分离，部件的引申意义，进入古法语为article，最初被英语借用时，是指合同或宗教教义的一个条款，19世纪才出现项目，物品的意义。词根词缀：-art-关节+-icle名词词尾→“关节”分离而为部件、物品。
谐音记忆法
谐音：阿弟扣，发音想成“啊，题扣”（题目扣住了，是篇好文章）；阿弟扣住了文章的主题。
