来自拉丁语redundare，流出，来自red-，往后，-und，水，水流，词源同undulate，abound.即原义为流出，多余，见redundant.后前缀词义发生变化为red-，再，重新，-und，水，水流，即再次流进，流入，因而引申现词义。
