这组词都可表示“文化”“文明”“修养”。它们的区别在于:
1.在表示某一国家或民族所特有的文化时, civilization常与culture互换使用。
2.civilization一般指的是与barbarism(野蛮)相对立的“文明”或“文化”; culture指某种类型的文化、风俗、信仰或传统等,尤指民族的艺术与思想; cultivation主要指身心文明、礼貌等的“养成”或“培养”。
